Machina Emblematica

Machina Emblematica is a conversational interface for exploring the Symbola et Emblemata, a 16th-century encyclopedia of allegorical illustrations, natural history, ancient fables, and moral reflections.
Built as a multimodal retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) system, the application combines high-resolution digitized images from the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek with curated textual transcriptions from Furman University.
I designed the user experience and developed the application, focusing on a playful and engaging interaction while ensuring the historical sources remain transparent and accessible.
